What stays on your machine

Your Fusion 360 project files, CAD geometry, and design documents never leave your computer. The bevell desktop app connects to Fusion 360 locally via MCP on localhost. No design files are uploaded, transmitted, or stored on our servers.

What is sent to OpenAI

To power the AI assistant, bevell sends the following to OpenAI's API:

• Chat messages you type (e.g. "add screw bosses at the corners")
• Images you upload for image-to-CAD conversion or the Guide feature
• Viewport screenshots taken during step-by-step guidance
• Tool call results (e.g. face counts, body dimensions) returned by Fusion 360

Under OpenAI's API data policy, API inputs are not used to train their models. Data is retained for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring, then deleted. This is the same policy used by Cursor, GitHub Copilot, and other AI developer tools.

We are actively exploring local and on-device model options to reduce reliance on external AI providers in future versions.

What we collect

When you join our waitlist, we collect your email address. When you use the Image-to-DXF converter on the website, we temporarily process the images you upload to generate DXF files. If you make a purchase, Stripe processes your payment information. We never see or store your card details.

Desktop app analytics

The bevell desktop app collects anonymous usage analytics to help us improve the product:

• App launch events (app version, macOS version)
• Feature usage (which features you use, not what you design with them)
• Error types (to fix bugs — no design data included)
• Session duration

We do not collect chat message content, design dimensions, file names, uploaded images, or any information about what you are designing. You can disable analytics at any time in the app's Settings panel.

How we use your data

• Email addresses: to notify you about early access and product updates
• Uploaded images (website only): processed in temporary storage, deleted immediately after conversion
• Anonymous analytics: to understand which features are useful and fix bugs

Generation history

Recent DXF previews are cached locally in your browser (IndexedDB) so you can revisit them. This data never leaves your device and is never stored on our servers. Entries are automatically deleted after 24 hours, and you can delete any entry manually at any time.

Third parties

• OpenAI: processes chat messages and images via their API (see above)
• Stripe: payment processing (we never see your card details)
• Fly.io: website hosting
• Supabase: waitlist storage and anonymous analytics
• Umami: anonymous website analytics (cookie-free, GDPR compliant)

We do not sell your data to anyone. We do not use your uploaded images or chat content for training, marketing, or any purpose beyond providing the service.

Your rights

You can request deletion of your data at any time by emailing natalie@bevell.app. We will remove your information within 30 days. You can also disable desktop app analytics in Settings at any time.

Local storage

We use essential cookies only. No tracking cookies, no advertising cookies. We use your browser's IndexedDB to store recent generation previews locally (auto-deleted after 24 hours). Download quotas are tracked server-side using an anonymous fingerprint.
